        Naki

        A Spirit Set Free

I can still see you so clearly, proud head lifted high.
Nose all aquiver, scenting the sky.

Your tail a flag, arched high over your back,
Lush opulent fur, silver, tipped in black.

A lonely sounding howl, never a bark.
Running from boundry to boundry, leaving your mark.

Defending your territory, attacking quickly and furiously.
Your soul a masterpiece of courage and loyalty.

Your were never meant for humans, for captivity.
You were meant to be wild, running swift and free.

I was so honored your spirit accepted me.
The head of your pack, the Alpha, your family.

Your spirit runs free now, patroling the sky.
We left on earth can only ask why.

Naki, wait for me now, so loyal and true.
As surely as the sun rises, I will one day join you.

        Your Loving Mama,
        Karen

        Naki...4 months old

Naki was a wolf hybrid I rescued when he was 6 months old. His former owner did not understand him and had not trained him at all. Naki wound up biting her and came close to euthanasia.

I had the honor of adopting Naki into my family. You never really own a wolf or any animal for that matter. He spent 7 and a half years protecting and loving his new pack.

I came home today to find his spirit had fled. There was no warning, no illness, no symptoms, no marks. He was just gone, horribly, forever gone.

        Remembrances...by Karen

I still cant beleive he is gone...

He acted like such a pup, he had the most amazing playful, curious yet graceful and dignified way about him. He loved to rub all over me. One time he was rubbing his head all up and down my legs, he got so carried away, he actualy turned a summersault.

Another time, my husband had one of his buddy's stay with us. Rick stayed in the guest room. The following morning, Rick and Lyle went to work. Naki was in the house and was too quiet so I figured I had better check on him. There he was with his long snout in Rick's travel pack taking each item, one by one, giving it a good sniff, then tossing it onto the floor and moving onto the next. I about howled in laughter!! Had to explain to Rick when they came home that it was Naki who had gone thru all his things and not me.
        LOL.

He loved the new place when we moved in. He had 1.5 acres to patrol every day. He was vigilant about it too. He would sit on top of his den in the back and survey his kingdom. He was very kingly in his carriage and very male.

Naki's full name, Prince Abunaki Unsoma means Prince of the Clan of the Wolf, Spirit Guide.

I cherish each memory of him.

I cant beleive he is gone........
